Accounts Assistant – £35,000–£37,000
London / Hybrid | Full-time | Fixed-term contract until 30 April 2027
A well-established professional membership body and registered charity is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join its small and friendly Finance team on a fixed-term basis until the end of April 2027.
The organisation is going through an exciting period of systems development, with a new CRM currently being built and prepared for launch. This role has been created to help maintain operational continuity within the Finance team and support delivery during the CRM build and go-live period.
Working as part of a Finance team of five and reporting to the Financial Accountant, you’ll provide hands-on support across the day-to-day finance function.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Preparing and posting bank and month-end journals
• Income and balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting purchase ledger activities
• Setting up new suppliers and registering invoices
• Monitoring and triaging the Finance inbox
• Supporting the month-end timetable and reporting process
• Running fixed asset depreciation
• Preparing year-end schedules and supporting the annual audit
The organisation uses Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, so previous experience of Business Central is required.
You’ll ideally be part-qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or actively working towards a recognised accountancy qualification, with good all-round finance experience and particularly strong reconciliation skills.
You’ll need to be comfortable taking ownership of your work, juggling different deadlines and working accurately in a busy environment. A positive, proactive approach and the ability to build good relationships with colleagues across the organisation will also be important.
Previous experience within a charity or not-for-profit organisation and an understanding of charity VAT would be beneficial, but aren't essential.
Salary & benefits
£35,000–£37,000 per annum, alongside a strong benefits package including:
• Employer pension contribution of up to 10%
• 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
• Additional days off between Christmas and New Year
• Flexible and agile working
• Life assurance and income protection
• Wellbeing support
• Learning and development opportunities and a generous training budget
The role is full-time (35 hours per week) with hybrid working, based from a Chancery Lane office in Central London but working predominantly remotely.
